Final EIS

The Illinois Department of Transportation held three public hearings on the Draft Environmental Impact Statement for the Illinois Route 336 Four-Lane Highway Study, extending from I-474 in Peoria to Macomb, in portions of Peoria, Fulton and McDonough Countries.

Three identical hearings were held, one in Peoria, one in Canton and one in Macomb. The department has considered a Build Alternative, a No-Build and several other alignments. In response to comments following the Hearing, the department made revisions to the Build Alternative in three areas:

  • Near Fisher Road and Eden Road west of Hanna City
  • East of Norris
  • East of Cuba

The maps that were presented in the hearings have been revised to reflect the revisions. The revised maps are available on this web site under the Project Maps tab on the left.

The Illinois Department of Transportation completed the study of IL 336, the Peoria to Macomb Highway, in 2011. The Federal Highway Administration signed the Record of Decision on June 6, 2011 thus ending the study phase of the project. The final Environmental Impact Statement is available for viewing at The department has identified the rights of way needed to build IL 336 from Peoria to Macomb. To insure this right of way is available, IDOT has initiated the corridor protection process along the right of way from Peoria to the west side of Canton.
